Mission 500, a non-profit initiative driven by the security professionals dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis, has announced that Pelco by Schneider Electric will be recognised as the 2011 Mission 500 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award winner. Additionally, Barbara Holliday of Monitronics will receive the 2011 Mission 500 Humanitarian Award. The Awards will be presented at a cocktail reception on April 7th, 2011 during ISC West in Las Vegas.
The purpose of the Mission 500 CSR Award is to honour companies in the security industry who make important contributions to those in need. Pelco by Schneider Electric has a long tradition of helping those in need via its Community Partnership Program which recruits employees and their families to actively participate in charity events in the community. Additionally, Pelco by Schneider Electric Community Partnership Volunteers participate in many environmental projects like tree planting and installing solar panels on low-income housing, as part of the company's "Go Green" effort. Pelco by Schneider Electric employees logged in over 20,000 hours of community volunteering in 2010 to support these initiatives.
One special annual event Pelco by Schneider Electric holds is called "Kids Day". The event provides an educational and entertaining experience for students with severe disabilities. More than 800 special education students and their teachers come to Pelco by Schneider Electric to enjoy a day packed with activities. Pelco by Schneider Electric also makes miracles come true for thousands of children every holiday season through participation in the Toys for Tots program. Cumulative donations from Pelco by Schneider Electric and its employees have surpassed one million toys, them the largest donor to the organisation.
Barbara Holliday, Director of Dealer Services for Monitronics Security, will receive the 2011 Humanitarian Award. She is an Advocate Volunteer at The Turning Point, (a Rape Crisis Centre serving North Texas for over 25 years), and dedicated over 400 hours of her time in 2010 alone volunteering to support of this great organisation and giving back to survivors in need.

She is a sponsor of Women for Women International, an organisation that puts funds directly into the hands of women in war zones and poverty stricken areas, and provides educational and work programs. She is also a volunteer judge for the FCCLA STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events, which is a program that uplifts High School children in mostly rural areas by challenging them to compete in categories such as advocacy, entrepreneurship, environmental ambassadorship, leadership and more.
Mission 500 is also hosting its second 5K charity run at ISC West on April 7th, 2011. The Security 5K / Mission 500 Charity Run is the first charity-driven event at an ISC Expo conceived to engage corporate sponsors as well as individuals within the industry.
Runners can register for the race on-site at the Mission 500 booth at ISC West, or by registering online. A nominal entry fee of $30.00 will go directly to the charity.
