Cassidian and ENERTRAG's system will cause minimal disturbance to residents
The Cassidian-ENERTRAG system only triggers signals such as LED lamps when they are needed

Cassidian, the defence and security division of the EADS aerospace group, will be working together with ENERTRAG, a wind power company, on beacons for wind turbines. The companies have signed a declaration of intent whereby a radar from Cassidian will be integrated into ENERTRAG's system of beacons.

This system warns pilots about possible collisions with wind turbines, by locating aircraft or helicopters flying towards a turbine at an early stage, and only triggering signals such as LED lamps when they are needed. Disturbances to residents are thus reduced to a minimum.

In the coming year, ENERTRAG and Cassidian are planning to equip a pilot project with the new system so as to meet the requirements for official certification of a joint product. The system will be available to all customers in the wind turbine market.
