G4S to display new transport bus built exclusively for security purposes at NSA show
The CBP buses serve as mobile detention centres to transport illegal immigrants to processing centres
This year at the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) show, G4S displayed a custom-built fortified U.S. Customs and Border Protection prisoner transport bus. Buses like the one displayed logged 19 million miles last year, transporting nearly one million illegal immigrants under a contract with the U.S. Customs Border Protection (CBP) to cover all sectors along the U.S.-Mexican border.

The CBP buses serve as mobile detention centres to transport illegal immigrants to processing centres, court appearances, hospitals, prisons and, depending on outcomes, back to the border. CBP's contract with G4S, a leading supplier of comprehensive security solutions, frees up the border patrol's staff to remain in the field where they can be most effective.

"The benefit of our CBP buses is effectively to give CBP's staff more time to do the important work of tracking and apprehending illegal immigrants, rather than spending their valuable time transporting them long distances once they are caught," said Kevin Johnson, G4S Vice President of Government Services. "It's an example of how G4S can provide support services to empower law enforcement to be more effective, even in these times of limited resources, while ensuring that security is scrupulously maintained at each step in the process."

At the NSA show, G4S featured two new T3 Motion three-wheeled electric human transport vehicles

Also at the NSA Show in Anaheim, G4S used their large booth presence to emphasise the G4S mission to provide a range of private security solutions to supplement Sheriff and law enforcement agencies around the country by performing non-sworn duties and to help agencies meet the need to stretch budget dollars.

For demonstration purposes, G4S displayed on the NSA show floor the new fortified 15-passenger transportation van used in a contract with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and CBP to transport illegal immigrants. In addition, the G4S booth featured two new T3 Motion three-wheeled electric human transport vehicles. Giveaways at the G4S booth were a big-screen TV and other items.

G4S provides critical support services for law enforcement agencies around the country, while also providing an important source of jobs for former and retired law enforcement personnel. G4S can help Sheriffs and law enforcement agencies boost their effectiveness by identifying security-related duties currently being performed by sworn law enforcement personnel and then delivering a law-enforcement-calibre programme that provides significant cost savings to the agencies and the taxpayers.
