A total of 60 Axis network cameras with related equipment will be installed in the Swedish pavilion |
Axis Communications is an official sponsor of the Swedish pavilion at The World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, which will run between 1 May and 31 October, 2010. Axis network cameras will be installed throughout the pavilion and the participation in Expo 2010 is a part of Axis' efforts to increase its sales in the Chinese market, which is expected to grow significantly during the next five years.
Expo 2010 is expected to be the biggest Expo ever in which over 200 countries and international organisations will participate. The estimated number of visitors is 70 million people during the six months of which 95 percent are expected to be Chinese. A total of 60 Axis network cameras with related equipment will be installed in the Swedish pavilion for a combination of security reasons and public service. Apart from the Swedish pavilion, Axis network cameras are also installed in the Danish pavilion in order to monitor the Little Mermaid.
"China is one of the largest markets in the world economy and it is a major focus for Axis to become well established in the Chinese market. In this way, Axis' participation at Expo 2010 is an important part of our long-term investment in the Chinese market," explains Ray Mauritsson, President, Axis Communications.
Axis has been present in China since the early 90s and today has subsidiary offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Products and solutions from Axis have been installed in many places such as the Shanghai Port and the Shanghai International Circuit as well as in the International Trade Centre III.

The theme for Expo 2010 is "Better City, Better Life" and keywords for the Swedish exhibition are innovation, communication, and sustainability. These words have been further evolved into the theme "Sweden - Spirit of Innovation". For Axis, these keywords make for a perfect fit as the company's innovative network video products and solutions contribute to the security and safety of cities by means of security surveillance and remote monitoring of public places, traffic and public transports.
"Axis will provide professional network video surveillance of the pavilion while at the same time using our cameras in fun and inventive ways. The cameras will be used for entrance surveillance as well as people counting using special software. The most visible contribution will be the cameras which will allow visitors to watch people using the slide which is one of the attractions of the pavilion. The Expo will be an excellent opportunity for displaying our products in a real setting," Mauritsson continued.
At Expo 2010, Axis will arrange meetings and seminars for current and potential customers, journalists and other interested parties, where they can learn more about Axis and its products.
