Bosch Advantage Line of analogue and IP surveillance cameras suits small businesses
Bosch Advantage Line of analogue and IP surveillance cameras suits small businesses

Bosch Security Systems is to launch ‘the Advantage Line’ – a new family of analogue and IP CCTV security and surveillance products that brings smaller businesses the quality and reliability that is the hallmark of Bosch technology, but at an affordable price. Available exclusively through Norbain and ProVision in the UK, and SKS in Eire, the new Advantage Line technologies are specifically targeted at companies who provide complete security solutions and/or those that may resell and install security products. Paul Wong, Managing Director of Bosch Security Systems, says that the purchasers are likely to already have a good technical knowledge of Bosch products: “The Advantage Line has been developed with a certain size of business in mind,” he says. “Customers will have already recognised the quality and reliability of our technology, but are challenged by their customers when it comes to the cost,” he says. “By delivering a series of products that have targeted features fit for the application, that are easy to configure and install, and that are available in quantity, we believe we are bringing the best of both worlds to all parties.” Mr Wong says that as well as the products, Bosch will also provide a specific level of dedicated customer support: “We will be working closely with our distribution partners to ensure that the Advantage Line has the high level of support our customers expect,” he adds.

See. Speak. Hear: IndigoVision’s new cameras deliver all with amazing clarity
See. Speak. Hear: IndigoVision’s new cameras deliver all with amazing clarity

The IndigoVision IP camera range has been boosted with the launch of the enhanced Standard Definition (SD) camera range, including the 9000 range of Fixed and Fixed Dome Cameras, complimenting the existing IndigoVision High Definition (HD) and Megapixel (MP) camera ranges. Traditionally audio may not have been seen as a priority in the CCTV sector and as a result most IP cameras use outdated audio encoding technologies such as G.711 and G.728 compression. These technologies deliver poor quality audio, especially when picking up sounds other than the human voice, such as breaking glass. However, a new breed of security professionals in the industry are taking a different approach to audio, demanding high quality audio in their CCTV projects. "People often think of audio in the security industry as being a niche application.” stated Alex Swanson, IndigoVision’s Head of Engineering. “Before, most applications for audio were in a police custody type environment but we’re seeing rising CCTV markets, such as Australia and Brazil, using audio more creatively. We’ve had a number of cities in Latin America using the IndigoVision solution as part of “help points” located around the city, where citizens can simply press a button to have instant two-way communication with the central monitoring location. Because the audio in our cameras use Advanced Audio Coding (AAC), it means that you can hear much more than the human voice - gunshots, breaking glass or even footsteps. By adding this functionality into more of our IP cameras, it means we’re now meeting the demands of these markets and making it even easier for remote viewing and communication."In addition to audio, the IndigoVision SD camera range has had significant video performance improvements resulting in further enhanced video quality and significant storage cost reduction.

Bosch Security Systems extends Dinion camera range with Dinion IP
Bosch Security Systems extends Dinion camera range with Dinion IP

Bosch Security Systems has launched Dinion IP – its proven Dinion camera with integrated IP network connection - in response to the growing market demand for greater flexibility, improved camera functionality, reduced cost of ownership and improved accessibility.Jeremy Hockham, UK Managing Director of Bosch Security Systems explains: “Internet Protocol (IP) has revolutionised the way the world communicates and it is now set to transform CCTV surveillance systems.   Installers are receiving more and more requests for IP-enabled cameras as their customers recognise the benefits of IP-based surveillance installations in comparison to traditional solutions.” Bosch’s Dinion range of fixed cameras was first launched in 2002 meeting the need for affordable, high-performance CCTV imaging, and it then later introduced the DinionXF series to offer high performance Colour and Day/Night models addressing the critical issues of sensitivity and dynamic range. The new Dinion IP cameras combine all the benefits and reliability of the Dinion range with a network video server that transmits video and control data over IP network which means that images can be transmitted to several receivers simultaneously.  Dinion IP cameras have tri-streaming technology: dual MPEG-4 and JPEG compression modes simultaneously allow a dedicated stream at one frame rate for recording and a different stream for live viewing, while JPEGS can be streamed to other devices such as a PDA. With an Ethernet connection and analogue BNC output, Dinion IP cameras offer customers a hybrid solution as they can be connected to existing analogue CCTV equipment, whilst still offering the additional flexibility and scalability of IP-based CCTV systems.  Installation is straightforward and they are easy to configure via the IP network: configuration settings can be stored as computer files and copied from one camera to another and settings can be uploaded to many cameras in the network simultaneously. The Dinion IP and DinionXF IP cameras have in-built intelligent functionality, like alarm management with relay output, event handling, alarm input and motion detection.  Dinion IP is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) standard. PoE means that installation is easy and additional cabling is eliminated as cameras do not require a local AC power source.  An additional benefit with PoE installations is if the network is supported by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), Dinion IP cameras can continue to operate even when there is a power failure.  Bosch’s DinionXF IP and Dinion IP cameras can be fully integrated into Bosch’s VIDOS Video Management System and DiBos Digital Video and IP Recorder and Transmission System.  These cameras complement the other innovative IP products such as the VIP and VideoJet families of encoders and decoders and the VIDOS and NVR (Network Video Recorder).

OPTEX real-time flow control people counter
OPTEX real-time flow control people counter

Flow control to support social distancing As the world moves to the new normal and measures are lifted, governments have put in place restrictions to support social distancing and avoid any new spread of COVID-19. Managing and controlling the numbers and access of people in and out of stores and offices, or indeed any building open to the public is crucial in supporting social distancing measures. The importance of real-time data accuracy Measuring occupancy as it happens with immediate updates of the people count is therefore critical as could lead to overcrowding, making social distancing hard to control and causing a risk to safety. The data needs to be gathered in real-time and transmitted instantly to the integrated occupancy software platform in order to give an exact picture on how many people are in a store, room or a specific area of a building. Another aspect to consider is the precision in the count of people going in or out of a store, making sure there are no errors in the count that over time accumulate minimising the reliability of the information, and which could again create unsafe situations or impact negatively on the store sales, if for instance no access was allowed based on incorrect reporting that occupancy threshold had been reached. The OPTEX Akribos VC-1020 is a real-time and multi-directional indoor people counter that can provide more than 97% accuracy. It ignores trollies and baskets and manages groups of individuals by tracking the direction of every individual, even complicated movements such as people turning back or standing still. Now featuring MQTT protocol, the Akribos sensor can be integrated with third party analytics software transmitting instantly the data gathered which can then be used to create key-performance reports, dashboards and visual displays to control occupancy levels. A long-term solution for businesses Many businesses and retailers are using their security staff to manage access and control queue volumes and as such, installers have an opportunity to become the principal point of contact for bringing new solutions regarding occupancy level and social distancing. The solution with OPTEX Akribos solves the issue created by the pandemic, but also solves the ongoing challenge of efficiently and accurately monitoring occupancy levels within a busy working or retail environment. The analytics and people traffic reporting can help retailers manage their staff and product placement better, and in the office to have a more efficient building management based on occupancy level.
