The inherent flexibility of the DV-IP Server range makes it the ideal building block for any multi-site application.  With open protocols and a Software Development Kit (SDK) that allow systems to be customised for different end-user requirements, the technology is ideal for centrally monitored, large-scale installations such as town centres, hospitals and campus environments. Designed as a hybrid security solution, the DV-IP Server continually stores evidential-quality images on each local machine to ensure every detail of every incident is captured clearly.  Simultaneously, the BS-8418 compliant system is able to stream MPEG-4 video, allowing efficient transmission over the ISDN and broadband connections used by remote monitoring stations. The DV-IP Server offers up to 100 pps record rate for high-speed image recording and features tamper-proof alarm-handling capabilities in compliance with BS-8418, critical for central monitoring station applications. But, image capture and recording are only part of the DV-IP story.  The new multi-site DV-IP Viewer enables multiple cameras from multiple DVRs to be viewed within the same PC application, particularly important when accessing data across a large campus, town centre or international environment.  Dedicated Micros also boasts the capability of its five-channel DV-IP Decoder.  Fully compatible with all DV-IP Servers, a single decoder allows digital video to be displayed on up to five standard composite monitors.  These flexible solutions provide a cost-effective mix of traditional CCTV monitors and networked PC viewing across the installation.

Dedicated Micros launches new generation DV-IP Server to offer enhanced CCTV performance and control

Dedicated Micros - part of AD Group - has announced the launch of its latest generation DV-IP Server, a high-performance, NetVu Connected, network Digital Video Recorder (DVR) which has been developed to meet the testing demands of professional surveillance applications.Advanced features now built-in to the new DV-IP Server transform this popular network DVR into a fully scalable, hybrid, system which is Analytics Capable and incorporates the very latest user interface enhancements.Available in 8, 12 or 16 camera input models, the intuitive colour coded graphical user interface adopted for the DV-IP Server ensures that it is easy to set-up and minimises operator training.  New interface capabilities, which can be accessed locally and remotely via a web browser, include embedded camera selection maps, and an intuitive video timeline to replace ‘goto' as the de facto search technique. The latest incarnation of the DV-IP Server also supports deep integration with Dedicated Micros Oracle, indoor and outdoor, dome camera.  Specifically, it delivers an on-screen 'Point & Go' PTZ control capability, which allows users to simply click on the point of interest on screen, and the Oracle automatically moves to the required position - just like a preset - fast and accurate.Being Analytics Capable means that the DV-IP server now offers the potential, in conjunction with a simple software license upgrade, to unlock features such as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Object Left and Object Removed. In addition, the DV-IP Server supports advanced MultiMode Recording to dynamically switch resolution, record rate and compression, in either JPEG or MPEG format, from a wide range of analogue or IP cameras, including the latest CamVu 2000 megapixel camera.Said Pauline Norstrom, Director of Worldwide Marketing at Dedicated Micros: "The latest generation DV-IP Server represents a sea change in capability by taking full advantage of our new, industry-leading, embedded system architecture, which is being rolled out across our main product lines.  The result is a powerful network DVR which can handle analogue and digital inputs, be controlled through attractive colour-coded user interfaces, support video analytics and, being NetVu Connected, readily communicate with a wide range of compatible network DVRs and Servers."

The way forward with IP in CCTV systems
The way forward with IP in CCTV systems

Efficient, multi-tasking encoding and decoding of video data are provided by Bosch’s VIP series of video transmitters/receivers.  These are ultra-compact modules that support full PAL or NTSC sources, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compression and full-duplex audio.  Dual encoding makes best use of bandwidth, while a USB interface allows connection over wireless LAN, xDSL, ISDN or PSTN.Network control greatly facilitates operation of an IP-based surveillance system.  For this Bosch offers the software-based VIDOS Video Management System, an intelligent, powerful and customizable means of controlling all functions in the IP CCTV system and supporting an unlimited number of cameras and monitors.  VIDOS integrates with existing peripheral equipment such as dome cameras and analog monitors, and combines comprehensive functionality with superb performance to provide operators with complete control of all network issues at the click of a mouse. One of the key areas where innovation in application has stepped in is Video Content Analysis (VCA) that uses real-time and recorded images and compares them with a database.  Typical applications in an airport environment include static, suspicious object monitoring, facial recognition, behaviour recognition and passenger traffic volume registration.Taking the surveillance system a few steps further, there are manufacturers like Bosch that also develop communication, fire, intrusion alarm and access control systems.  We see more integration of one or more of such systems with IP-based CCTV, to provide a total, integrated security and control facility, ideal for large enclosed spaces like airport buildings.

eneo encoders and decoder: High-quality pictures for network video surveillance

eneo signal-transmission network products have an addition to the family - apart from the ECD-01 decoder a choice of altogether three servers is now available:  The ECS-01 and ECS-01W (WLAN) 1-channel models as well as the ECS-04 with four channels. The eneo ECD-01 video decoder decompresses and converts a digital video signal and provides analogue images for, for instance, display on a CRT monitor.  The ECD-01 uses MPEG-4 compression to decode video signals at rates up to 25 fps with a maximum resolution of 704x576 pixels, a maximum data transfer rate of 2MB/sec as well as simultaneous video and audio decoding. The servers also use MPEG-4 compression.  They convert and compress analogue video signals and then make the high-quality digitalised images available to network users.  Both 1-channel models transmit video signals at a maximum 25 fps, also with a maximum resolution of 704x576 pixels and a data transfer rate of 2MB/sec. The video transfer rate of the ECS-04 is 100 fps, the maximum resolution is 352x288 pixels and maximum data transfer rate 1.5MB/sec.The servers and decoder are not hardwired to a computer as they both have their own IP addresses.  Further features are transmission of important events by e-mail as well a pre- and post-alarm recording. All eneo products for network transmission are shipped bundled with the powerful Viewer Software for live and recording modes as well as for device configuration.
