Munich's Movieplanet - an entertainment library with DVD vending machines - is a business concept on course for success. Customers have access to a wide variety of DVDs, music CDs and computer games at any hour of the day or night. The entertainment library's business philosophy is to offer clients the ultimate in service and convenience. One element is its internet booking facility, which enables customers to choose the title they want on a website in the comfort of their own home, then to collect it within the hour by presenting their customer card at the nearest branch.
With the company's special user terminals ensuring anonymity for the renting process, it is even more important to have an effective, reliable monitoring system in the branches. High quality and the comprehensive service were therefore the decisive reasons why Movieplanet turned to Dallmeier electronic.
The eight Munich branches of Movieplanet were each equipped with an M-DMS 4 and two unobtrusive minidome cameras. The M-DMS 4 is a compact recording system for use in small or networked CCTV systems. Its integral motion detector facilitates efficient use of the hard disk capacity by controlling the picture data recording process in a wide range of recording modes. A large variety of settings enable the optimum configuration of the recorder for this special application at Movieplanet.
When finance is available for further investment, it will be possible to expand the system to include card reading. This will then enable contact-controlled recording when the customer presents his or her card to be read. The recorded pictures and the customer card data can then be stored together so that when necessary important information can be extracted quickly and easily.
Kristof Keim, Movieplanet Managing Director, is very satisfied with his Dallmeier products. "Although we haven't exploited its full potential yet, the Dallmeier electronic monitoring system is delivering reliable protection and vital pictures. Dallmeier is not market leader in the German digital recording market for nothing!"
