Northumbrian Water Limited (NWL) provides water and wastewater services to 2.6 million people in the north east of England, and water services to 1.8 million in the south east of England, where it trades as Essex & Suffolk Water.
Just under ten years ago Northumbrian Water Limited invested in its first Datalog Security Management System. The software has become a key component of its control room operations ever since.

Security and emergency planning manager at Northumbrian Water, Colin Thomson, commented: "We have been upgrading a full range of control hardware at our water treatment works recently so it was the perfect time to upgrade to Datalog 4. Furthermore our operators have used the software for many years now and they have found it to be both reliable and simple to operate."
The Datalog software integrates with a wide range of control equipment at various Northumbrian Water Limited sites; including CCTV, Intruder, Radio Paging and Staff Attack, providing a single operating routine for managing alarms and events. The upgrade to Datalog 4 will bring about significant cost and operational benefits.
Colin added: "Northumbrian Water Limited has a number of water treatment works and the Datalog software allows us to monitor activity locally and remotely from a main control room. This enables us to manage our operations in a cost effective manner. The upgrade itself will significantly enhance our operations by monitoring events in real time and allowing our operators to view instant video play back of incidents."
