IQinVision, market leader in high performance megapixel network cameras, smart IP cameras, and network video recording systems, recently announced that the Livingston Mall in Livingston, New Jersey has deployed IQeye megapixel IP cameras from IQinVision to improve security at the super-regional shopping centre. Supreme Security Systems, Inc., Union, NJ, designed and installed the integrated, IP-based video surveillance system and is overseeing its continued expansion.
The Livingston Mall installation originated with and was designed for use by the Livingston Police Department (LPD). Livingston Police secured Department of Homeland Security funding intended for upgrading security at the mall. IQeye cameras are trained on strategic locations both inside the mall and at outside entrances and in the parking lot. Firetide, supplier of wireless mesh networks, optimized for transmission of real-time, full-frame video, provided wireless technology to integrate the IQeye cameras with the IZON network video recording head end. Wireless technology was crucial to the installation by ensuring excellent transmission performance, cost savings, and enhanced ease of installation and expansion.
Also key to the installation was IQinVision's megapixel technology, which reduced the number of cameras required, as compared to regular CCTV technology, while offering superior image clarity and coverage. Supreme Security Systems' Steve Hall commented, "The Livingston police love the IQeye megapixel image quality. They knew initially that there was limited budget, and the IQeyes give them the coverage and image quality they want and at the right total investment-it's the best of both worlds. In the design and final choice of cameras, megapixel technology showed very favorably in terms of cost/benefit."
The mall is currently expanding and future plans call for increasing the number of IQeye cameras and Firetide mesh nodes. Over time, video feeds presently used for incident review at the mall, will be available for live monitoring at the Livingston Police Department and, eventually, in LPD cars patrolling the mall and responding to incidents. Wireless technology will also be instrumental in extending the reach of the system and providing video access for the Livingston Police Department.
"The Livingston Mall is an excellent demonstration of how our IQeyes offer better image quality with fewer cameras-all at a lower cost for the end user," said Pete DeAngelis, IQinVision President and CEO. "IQinVision has been in the megapixel business longer than anyone, and we are committed to continuing to deliver superior value and performance."
