Sofia Municipality chose ACTi as security solution provider |
The building also houses several social institutions and organisations where citizens can file their complaints, petitions and other documents. The increasing flow of visitors and the importance of the institutions situated inside have led to the decision of using a modern video surveillance solution covering the entire area. ACTi's local partner, Sectron Ltd, offered a professional, comprehensive IP video system, having in mind following two main reasons.
The Municipality had previously installed a modern Ethernet network, which according to the calculations could also accommodate the IP video traffic required. "The installation works and new cables have been reduced to minimum by using the existing network. This indeed gives the end client a significant cost benefit," said Rumen Palmov, Sales Manager of Sectron Ltd.
The flexibility for expansion is another reason. Various cameras are planned to be added to the system according to the future needs of the institutions and agencies located in the Sofia Municipality building. "We know a sophisticated IP video system is the only possible way to have high flexibility for future expansion," commented the Chief Security Officer of Sofia Municipality.
ACM-1432 IR weatherproof cameras were chosen for the outside perimeter of the building. These cameras have CCD element with high sensitivity, which is the perfect choice for overall surveillance during night time. The integrated IR illumination further expands the performance of the cameras in every weather situation no matter at day or night environments.
CAM-6610 speed dome PTZ camera was installed on top of the main entrance giving an excellent panoramic view on the street in front of the building with a capability of 18X optical zoom.

The inside of the main entrance is secured by 1.3 megapixel dome camera, ACM-3401, which has a discreet, unobtrusive design, but gives a clear view on any person entering the building.
The recording and the management of the system is organised by a PC server with Milestone XProtect Professional, providing a powerful IP management platform with future expansion capability. Another PC workstation is used for live monitoring and playback.
The system will be further expanded with more IP cameras later in 2009.
